The History of New Haven Township is a collection of materials, verbal recollections, and photographs. The book was written with respect to gathering and preserving the history of this small community. The contents of this book was gathered from various sources, newspapers, obituaries, cemetery records, family bibles, town records, but mostly from verbal accounts. Many Many people contributed stories and photographs for the making.
No where else in Wisconsin will a person find a friendlier little place then New Haven Township (according to me!) Whether you are a resident, a tourist or a long lost relative passing through. You just can't help but feel the friendliness of small town living!
This book was written to give the reader a feel of the people (past and present) of the community and of the small town making. You may walk away with a feeling that you know the people of the past just from reading about them. I would hope that you feel closer to the history and the community as a whole.
Within the pages of the book you will read about the many aspects of the community. From the early formation, the tragedies, the physical labors, and the people who made it all happen
Chapter 1: Find out exactly who the movers and the shakers were in forming the Township. From the influences of one family in naming the Township, to the hard working hands that cleared the land that some of us call home today.
Chapter 2: Read about the one and two room country schoolhouses that were nestled among the countryside Step back in time, while viewing the many documents of "one room school history".

Chapter 3: Learn about the important roles that the local churches have played in the township, and how they each began and who formed them.

Chapter 4: Have fun discovering the history that is "buried" within the confines of the graveyards. A wealth of history can be found in every one of them. Renew and strengthen your patriotism in learning about the brave men that served in the Civil War. Please, never let our veterans be forgotten. No matter if they served in peacetime or wartime, they are a very important aspect of our history, past and present.
Chapter 5: Did you know that French Park (Aka: the Pines) is the only park left in the township to make full use of a "Hand pump" for water? And that Thatchers park was the very last recreational park in the Township top still use an "outhouse?"
Chapter 6: Take a stroll through Graytown. Look around and enjoy the scenery. Step back into time, and imagine what life was like over 80 years ago when Graytown was a booming community within New Haven Township.

Chapter 7: Did you ever wonder what brought and kept people in the Connorsville area? Read about the many businesses that once thrived. Take a walk through one of the many general stores. Leave that store with a neighborly feeling of knowing the proprietors. Remember the smell of the wood stove, or the banana's hanging from the ceiling. How bout the "squeak" of the front door?

Chapter 8: Learn of the families of the past that shaped and formed the community. Read of their tribulations, their accomplishments, and their history. You may even be surprised to learn that you fall into one of the family trees somewhere along the line.

Chapter 9: In this chapter, you will learn of tragedies that effected not just one family, but usually the whole community. Read how everybody joined hands together during devestation. Natural disasters, family sorrow, and the pain felt by the whole community due to a horrific crime.
Chapter 10: Documents that may be of interest. From the town record books on forming and building roads in the township, to quarantine of a home due to contagious illness.
Chapter 11: Sit, relax and enjoy! This is a large collection of photographs that were shared with me from many many sources. From personal scrapbooks, to grandma's photo album. Each was shared with a sense of pride and great love. As you scan over the photographs, observe the styles of clothing, hair and shoes. Don't forget to observe the scenery, a lot of it has changed greatly over the years.
Chapter 12: There is a vast amount of genealogical information within this chapter. Obituaries and memorials.
Chapter 13: A vast collection of information that just didn't fit into any of the chapters. Did you know that Connorsville once had its very own newspaper? Read from that paper, and chuckle at the antics of the editor.
WELCOME TO SMALL TOWN USA!!!
